Source and citation policy
Semantec SEO is a Semantic SEO agency. This policy sets requirements for the sources, quotations and links used in website content and commissioned work. A material statement needs support for the wording, scope and time period in which it is used.
A link alone is not proof. Readers should be able to understand what a source supports, the conditions that apply and any limit.

Use the source responsible for the information
Prefer original studies, official documentation, original data and records from the organisation responsible for the information. Use another reliable source when it adds necessary explanation or the original cannot be used, and make that distinction clear.
A company page can support what the company states about its own service. It does not independently prove performance, qualifications or a customer result. Choose the source for the question being answered.

Support the exact statement
The source must support the statement being made, rather than the general topic. Keep the relevant date, market, version, units, conditions and limits with the information.
One project or observation does not justify a universal promise. A comparison needs compatible evidence for each option. An illustration, plan or intended result is not proof that work has been completed or that a client achieved an outcome.

Check information that can change
Fees, service details, platform rules, legal requirements and other changing information need a source suitable for the period discussed. Recheck them before using them in a current statement.
A new date on a website does not update the evidence behind its words. If sources disagree, identify the difference and its effect on the statement. Do not choose the more favourable answer without support.
Read the Claims Policy
Respect wording, context and rights
Copy quotations accurately and keep their meaning and qualifications intact. Identify a paraphrase as your own wording. Do not invent quotations, authors, citations, customer results, statistics or links.
Attribution does not grant permission to copy a complete work or reuse protected material. Use only what the relevant permission, agreement or law allows. Remove unnecessary personal information from examples and supporting material.

AI cannot replace source verification
AI can suggest a source or wording, but the source must still be opened and checked. A citation, title, quotation or URL created by AI is not accepted until it resolves and supports the statement.
Check calculations against their inputs and units. State the method, assumptions and missing information that affect the result. Separate checked facts from judgement and estimates so that readers can assess the statement being made.

Correct unsupported information
If a source is corrected, withdrawn or no longer supports the statement, update, qualify or remove the wording that depends on it. A material correction should explain the change when readers need that explanation.
Send a source or citation concern to privacy@semantecseo.com with the page URL, wording, relevant source and a short explanation. Do not send passwords or unrelated personal information. Email opens a draft in your email service; you decide if it is sent.
