- Corrections and Retractions Policy
Compliance · Governance standard
Correct the canonical source, disclose material errors, and propagate the repair.
The policy covers error intake, triage, interim action, correction, clarification, update, withdrawal, retraction, restoration, source withdrawal, change records, dependent pages, and requester review.
Semantec SEO Corrections, Retractions, and Change Record Standard
The standard states what must happen, who owns the decision, what evidence is required, and what blocks release.
Submit a correction
Send privacy@semantecseo.com the page or asset, exact statement, publication date, supporting source, proposed correction, and reason. Product, account, or price issues may also use support@semantecseo.com.
Do not include credentials, full card details, another person's unnecessary data, or unlawfully obtained material.
Classify the issue
| Class | Meaning | Typical action |
|---|---|---|
| Typographical | Meaning is not materially changed | Correct without a prominent notice where appropriate |
| Clarification | Wording is ambiguous but not materially false | Revise and record internally |
| Factual correction | A material statement is inaccurate | Correct visibly and date the notice |
| Update | The earlier statement was accurate but circumstances changed | Update with effective date and history where useful |
| Source withdrawal | Evidence is retracted, corrected, removed, or permission is withdrawn | Trace and repair every dependent claim |
| Legal or privacy restriction | Publication should be limited or removed | Restrict, redact, remove, or route to specialist review |
| Retraction | The central claim or asset cannot be responsibly maintained | Withdraw the asset and state the reason where lawful |
| Restoration | A restriction or removal is no longer justified | Restore with an explanatory record where material |
Assess evidence and consequence
Review the controlling source, affected entity, scope, date, user consequence, rights, legal duties, and whether the same claim appears in tables, FAQs, images, metadata, downloads, prompts, structured-data candidates, or other pages.
Do not decide from the complaint alone or dismiss it because the page was previously approved.
Use proportionate interim action
A disputed statement may be held, labelled, hidden, or removed while a material factual, legal, privacy, safety, or rights issue is investigated.
Interim removal is not an admission of liability and should not be used to suppress lawful criticism without evidence.
Correct the canonical owner
Update the page, record, product source, policy, or entity that owns the fact before dependent pages are edited.
The change record should identify the prior wording, revised wording, source, date, reason, owner, and affected assets.
Publish a visible correction when material
A visible note is appropriate where the prior error could affect a purchase, legal right, privacy expectation, product decision, comparison, trust assessment, or public understanding.
The notice should be concise, factual, dated, and connected to the corrected statement. It should not repeat unnecessary personal or disputed information.
Propagate the change
Check every dependent page, link, summary, table, visual, document, email, prompt, sample output, provider record, schema candidate, and press fact.
A correction is incomplete while another live owner repeats the superseded statement.
Retraction and removal
Retract or remove an asset when its central evidence fails, rights are withdrawn, the page is materially misleading, or the user task no longer supports publication.
Preserve a lawful internal record and use an honest public route, archive, redirect, or status according to the surviving user need.
Requester response and review
A requester should receive acknowledgement and the outcome where appropriate. A person who disputes the result may provide further evidence or request review by an owner not responsible for the original decision where practical.
Recordkeeping and monitoring
Store the issue, source, decision, changes, reviewer, dates, notices, affected assets, and verification. Repeat or systemic errors should update the source, template, workflow, training, or review rule that caused them.
Controlling guidance and first-party records.
The standard uses current source material but does not convert platform guidance into a ranking guarantee.
